BENTON -- John C. Chesser, 58, Benton Route 1, died Wednesday, June 28, 1995, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Jan. 31, 1937, in Lamar, Ark., son of Charles F. and Maude May Stone Chesser. He and Darlene F. Cole were married Sept. 21, 1979, at Sikeston.
Chesser was a steel fabricator and welder with Steward Steel Co. in Sikeston 21 years. He was a member of Miner Baptist Church, Eagles Aerie 3319 in Sikeston, and was a pitcher for the Eagles Fast Pitch Softball Team. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary Chesser of Carrollton, Ga.; a daughter, Valerie Chesser of Benton; four brothers, Bill Chesser of Jasonville, Ind., Lon Chesser of Clarksville, Ark., James Chesser of Mooresville, Ind., Denver Chesser of Avon, Ind.; a sister, Janice Casey of Sun City, Ariz.; stepmother, Elva Chesser of Palacios, Texas, and a granddaughter.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dale Merritt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
