John A. Rhodes, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Aug. 31, 1998, at Heartland Care Center.
He was born June 28, 1904, in Grand Tower, Ill., son of Henry Thomas and Wilmoth "Minnie" Borders Rhodes. He married Hazel Qualls, who died Nov. 1, 1944. He later married Lela Wilson, who died Dec. 23, 1995.
Rhodes was an engineer with CIPS Power Plant in Grand Tower 42 years, retiring in 1969. He was formerly of Grand Tower and Tamms, Ill.
He was a member of Grand Tower/Murphysboro Masonic Lodge, and Operating Engineers Local 148.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilmoth Adams of Cape Girardeau; a stepson, James Wilson of Alto Pass, Ill.; two grandchildren; a great-grandchild; five stepgrandchildren; and several great-stepgrandchildren.
Friends may call at Meredith Funeral Home in Grand Tower from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Billy Don Heady officiating. Burial will be in Walker Hill Cemetery at Grand Tower.
