Joe Ury

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Joe Ury, 74, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at Union County Hospital in Anna, Ill.

He was born Oct. 25, 1931, in Jonesboro, son of William Glenn and Ruth Irene Lyerly Ury. He and Katie Blaylock were married May 21, 1957, in Jonesboro.

Ury was a farmer, member of First Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Mike Conway of Cape Girardeau; a granddaughter, Kelly Conway of Cape Girardeau, and a sister, Betty Mattheis of Anna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harold and Roy Ury.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hileman Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Oxford officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery, with military rites conducted by VFW Post 3455.
