NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Joe P. Heisserer, 89, of New Hamburg died Sunday, July 2, 2006, at his home.
He was born Oct. 3, 1916, at Kelso, Mo., son of August and Clara Bucher Heisserer. He and Coletta L. Glastetter were married Nov. 22, 1938. She died June 14, 2003.
Heisserer was self-employed in farm machine repair, and was a bus driver 12 years with Kelso School District. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Joseph Sodality, and was a eucharistic minister at the church.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Survivors include four sons, Joe A., Elmer and Ralph Heisserer of New Hamburg, Tom Heisserer of Jackson; four daughters, Dorothy Menz of New Hamburg, Anna Bollinger of Scott City, Helen Cleary of Midwest City, Okla., Kathy Boesch of Mariton, N.J.; four brothers, Linus Heisserer of Scott City, Lawrence Heisserer of Benton, Mo., Barney Heisserer of Kelso, Cletus Heisserer of St. Louis; two sisters, Liz Dannenmueller and Rita Eichhorn of Kelso; caretaker, Sharon Abbott of Benton; 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; nine great-stepgrandchildren; and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Mo., after 4 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 6.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Lawrence Church, with the Rev. Normand Varone officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
