SIKESTON -- Joe Emerson, 37, of Jackson, died on Saturday, April 29, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital due to injuries sustained in an accident near Old Appleton.
He was born Aug. 2, 1962, son of Jimmie and Gene Whittley Emerson of Sikeston.
Emerson, formerly of Morley, was a member of the Morley Baptist Church and a 1980 graduate of Scott County Central High School. He had worked at Noranda Aluminum, General Motors Assembly Plant at Wentzville and the Chrysler Motors Assembly Plant at Fenton. He was a journeyman millwright and member of Carpenter-Millwright Local 1770.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Emerson of Oran; a son, Layton Emerson of Oran; two daughters, Melody and Brandi Emerson of Oran; three brothers, Ricky Emerson of Cape Girardeau, Timothy Emerson of Benton and Michael Emerson of Venice, Fla.; maternal grandmother Violet Whittley of Sikeston; and paternal grandmother Ava Emerson of Morley.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. on Monday.
A memorial service will follow cremation at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, at the Morley Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Matthews will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or Red Star Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
