Jody Gosnell, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Feb. 21, 1933, in Springfield, Mo., daughter of William and Ella Chipman McLaughlin. She and Jack R. Gosnell were married March 2, 1957, in Springfield.
Gosnell was a member of First Christian Church, where she was an elder, former Sunday school teacher and Meals on Wheels coordinator. She was an elementary school teacher at Springfield, Joplin, Kansas City and Cape Girardeau. Gosnell was an elementary librarian at Cape public schools, retiring in 1994. She obtained a bachelor of science degree from Missouri State University and a certification in library science from Southeast Missouri State University. Gosnell was a member of the PEO, Evening Lions Club, where she was secretary, the Friendship Club, the SEMO Booster Club and the Giggles Bridge Club.
Survivors include her husband, Jack R. Gosnell of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Gail L. Craft and husband Wayne of Cape Girardeau, Jill S. Pangborn and husband Wes of St. Louis, Mo.; a son, Guy R. Gosnell and wife Tricia of Charlotte, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Taylor Craft, Megan Craft, Holly Craft, Garrett Gosnell, Rachel Gosnell, Mackenzie Gosnell and Madison Gosnell.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Service will be held at First Christian Church at 10 a.m. Monday with Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating.
Memorials may be made to First Christian Church Building Fund or Down's Syndrome Association of Greater St. Louis.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren and friends.
