Joanne Thompson

THEBES, Ill. -- Joanne Thompson, 76, of Dixon died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon.

She was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Thebes, Ill., daughter of Charles and Mary Bagley Goforth. She and Thomas R. Thompson were married Sept. 30, 1944, in Morganfield, Ky. He died Oct. 17, 1995.

Thompson was a hostess at Brown Shingle Restaurant several years.

Survivors include three sons, Eric Thompson of Durand, Ill., Thomas Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., Joe Thompson of Rochelle, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Ann James of Dixon; a brother, Charles Goforth of Anna; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter.

There is no visitation.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale, Ill., with the Rev. Don Poole officiating.
