TAMMS, Ill. -- Joanne Lentz Allen, 57, of Beavercreek, Ohio, formerly of Tamms, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013. She was born July 2, 1956, in Anna, Ill., daughter of the Revs. Joe and Wilma Ackley Lentz. Joanne graduated valedictorian from Egyptian High School in Tamms. She and her husband were co-pastors of the Safe House of Worship in Riverside, Ohio. She had played the piano, sang and served the Lord since she was 16 years old...

Sister Joanne Lentz Allen, 57, of Beavercreek, Ohio, formerly of Tamms, Ill., went home to be with her Lord and savior Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013.

Sister Joanne was born July 2, 1956, in Anna, Ill., the daughter of Rev. Joe and Rev. Wilma Ackley Lentz.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her baby sister Cynthia Lentz.

She graduated valedictorian from Egyptian High School in Tamms. She and her husband were co-pastors of the Safe House of Worship in Riverside, Ohio. She had played the piano, sung and served the Lord since she was 16 years old.

She is survived by husband Pastor Desi W. Allen, whom she married Nov. 25, 1978; daughters Heather (Bryan) Tyree of Bear, Del., and their children, Tristan, Bryce, Cayden and Aderah; Desha (Brian) Rose of Dayton, Ohio; and Paige (Jonathan) Elam of Beavercreek and their children, Sammy and Vinny; sisters: Pat Orsburn (John O'Connor) of Tamms; Joyce (Martin) Huff of Cincinnati; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at A House of Prayer, 282 Stelton Road, Xenia, Ohio, with the Rev. Mark Maynard, the Rev. Richard Blevins and Sister Edna Wagers officiating.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at A House of Prayer, and again Tuesday immediately before the service at the church. McColaugh Funeral Home in Xenia is handling the Ohio arrangements.

Services in Southern Illinois will take place graveside at 1 p.m. Thursday at Alto Pass Cemetery, Highway 127 North, Alto Pass, Ill., with the Rev. Roger Whelstone officiating.

Friends and family will gather at the cemetery just before the graveside services. Crain Funeral Home of Tamms is in charge of the arrangements in

Illinois.
