Joanna Johannes, 76, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, in St. Louis.
She was born March 23, 1945, in Syracuse, New York, to Kenneth and Frances Diebert Dilling. She and John Johannes were married Aug. 19, 1967, in St. Louis. Two children were born to their union, Rachel and John "Jack."
Joanna was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau and earned a master's degree in education from Webster University in St. Louis.
She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and had a special affection for dogs.
Loving survivors include her husband of 54 years, John Johannes of Jackson; two children, Rachel (Jeff) Keech of Chesterfield, Missouri, and Jack (Erin) Johannes of Leavenworth, Kansas; four grandchildren, Sadie and David Keech of Chesterfield and Katelyn and William Johannes of Leavenworth; a brother-in-law, Jim (the late Erma) Johannes of Jackson; and several stepsiblings, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Kenneth (Joan) Dilling; her mother, Frances (Howard) Smith; a brother, Kenneth Dilling; sister-in-law, Emilie Lysell; and a sister-in-law, Erma Johannes.
A memorial visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Friends and family will be asked to share their memories of Joanna.
