BUNCOMBE, Ill. -- Joanna Mae Gee, 65, Buncombe Route 1, died Monday, Aug. 19, 1996, at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
She was born April 11, 1931, in Carbondale, daughter of Joe T. and Gladys Smith Duncan. She married Harold E. Gee Jan. 20, 1951, in Carbondale.
Gee was a teacher at Cypress Grade School 17 years. She was a member of Illinois Retired Teachers Association, and American Legion Auxiliary in Anna. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, but attended United Missionary Baptist Church, both near Lick Creek.
Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Leanne Thompson and Tina Benefield of Lick Creek, Ileen Jarvis of Carterville, Terri Harrison of Carbondale, Nancy Smith of Sidney; three sons, Jeffrey and Tommie Gee of Carterville, Dylan Myers of Lick Creek; a sister, Janis Girado of Marion; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and two grandsons.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna after 6 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at Makanda.
