Joan A. Gohn, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, May 27, 2023, at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center in Foley, Alabama.
She was born April 7, 1947, in Cape Girardeau to Howard L. and Maxine Gravette Amlingmeyer.
She and Lyman R. Gohn married Oct. 5, 1990, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 2000.
Joan received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Southeast Missouri State University, where she was also active in the alumni association.
She taught in the Meridian School District in Mounds, Illinois, for 30 years.
She was a member of PEO Chapter LA in Jackson.
Joan was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church and was also a past deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
She is survived by two stepdaughters, Michelle Haury of Sparta, Illinois, and Julie Livesay of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Ned Amlingmeyer of Boonville, Indiana, and John Amlingmeyer of Metropolis, Illinois; and three stepgrandchildren.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, June 5, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral will follow at noon Monday, June 5 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jennifer Long officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
