Neta Joan England, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, at Life Care Center of Cape Girardeau.
Joan was born Sept. 24, 1933, in St. James, Missouri, to Frank and Stella Perry Johnson. She and Charles England were united in marriage Dec. 13, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1967. Together, they had one son, Charles Steven England, born in 1953, and he preceded her in death in 2009.
She was the secretary for the East Prairie (Missouri) School District and Noranda Aluminum.
Joan moved to New Orleans in 1976 and worked for the Ganus family business. She then moved to Cape Girardeau in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina.
She loved to volunteer at her local hospital.
She was a member of Church of Christ-Cape Girardeau. She was very involved in the fellowship, and loved spending time with her church family.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Robert Perry Johnson, Walter Frank Johnson, Edith Ganus and Doris Ganus.
Joan is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Graveside rites will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at IOOF Cemetery in Charleston, Missouri.
Ford and Liley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
