PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Joan M. Chatron Behrle, 83, of Perryville died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at Independence Care Center with her children by her side. Joan was born Aug. 11, 1933, in St. Mary, Missouri, to Howard and Louise Herzog Chatron. She and Glennon L. Behrle were married May 5, 1956, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Joan M. Chatron Behrle, 83, of Perryville died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at Independence Care Center with her children by her side.

Joan was born Aug. 11, 1933, in St. Mary, Missouri, to Howard and Louise Herzog Chatron. She and Glennon L. Behrle were married May 5, 1956, at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 2013.

Joan was a very loving and much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Following graduation from St. Vincent High School in 1951, Joan attended DePaul Hospital School of Nursing with her dear friends Marge Hayden Carron and Pat Hoeckele Wingerter. She graduated in 1954 and worked as a registered nurse at Perry Country Memorial Hospital and American Care Center (now The Estates).

Joan loved to sing and play the piano. She enjoyed her flowers, particularly pansies, and many pets over the years, especially her dogs, Julie and Charlie. Joan was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish and sang in the church choir. She also enjoyed singing at local weddings.

Survivors include her five children, Glenda Behrle of St. Louis, Jeff (Clare) Behrle of St. Louis, Jon (Gail) Behrle of Buffalo, Missouri, Amy (Patrick) Sutterer of Perryville and Jay Behrle (Liese Hutchison) of Key West, Florida; seven grandchildren, Hannah Henke, Sarah Henke, Grace Behrle, Miranda (Ben) Routt, Andrew Behrle, Jacob (Stephanie) Sutterer and Rachel Sutterer; and one great-grandson, Colt Sutterer.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Denis Chatron.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, with a parish wake at 7 p.m., and from 6:30 to 9:45 a.m. Saturday, with a rosary recited at 8:30 a.m., at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Jason J. Schumer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorials are preferred to St. Vincent High School for nursing scholarships in Joan's memory.
