Jo Ann Yates

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Jo Ann Yates, 71, of Marble Hill passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 3, 1940, in Greenwood, Mich., daughter of William and Ruth A. Doss Galey. She and Gilbert R. Yates were married June 2, 1996.

Jo Ann was a retired convenience store clerk and a member of Union Light Congregational Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Michael (Susan) Barrett of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Debbie Hutchison of Fredericktown, Mo., Donna Bartlett of Burfordville; a stepson, Gilbert R. Yates Jr. of Jackson; four stepdaughters, Sherry Yates of Reno, Nev., Susie Carnagey of Neosho, Mo., Millie Lynn Faries of Denton, Texas, Kim Meinke of Jackson; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Thomas Galey.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Sander officiating. Burial will be in Union Light Cemetery near Patton, Mo.
