ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Jo Ann Schmuke Hill, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, passed quietly away Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014. She was the last living child of the eight children of Mary Ann Hunter and Joseph Edmund Schmuke of Jackson.
She graduated from Southeast Missouri State University, where she was introduced to a returning veteran, Gene Hill, and their adventure began. Married on Oct.17, 1946, their journey of 62 years took them from coast to coast. Whether it was in Florida or California, Illinois or Georgia, Jody always enjoyed the travel, her homes, bridge, golf, friends, but most of all her family, from her daughters and their families to her sisters and 20 nieces and nephews.
Her presence and her joy of life will be deeply missed by her daughters and sons-in-laws, Mary and Wayne Casey of Atlanta and Melissa and John Newfang of El Paso, Texas; as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Jody and Asher Feinberg of El Paso and their sons, Hunter James and Charlie Hill, Tim Newfang of Los Angeles, Steve and Maggie Casey of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Chris Newfang of St. Louis.
Honoring Jody's and Gene's wishes, a celebration of life and burial in the family plot will be in Jackson at a later date. Please express condolences at southcare.us.
