ST. MARY, Mo. -- The Rev. Jimmy Wayne Vinson, 64, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his home. He was born Aug. 17, 1938, at Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and had lived in the Jonesboro area for the past 20 years. He and Mary Alice Hendrix were married Sept. 17, 1960, at St. Mary...

ST. MARY, Mo. -- The Rev. Jimmy Wayne Vinson, 64, of Jonesboro, Ark., died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his home.

He was born Aug. 17, 1938, at Ste. Genevieve, Mo., and had lived in the Jonesboro area for the past 20 years.

He and Mary Alice Hendrix were married Sept. 17, 1960, at St. Mary.

Vinson was a minister for 33 years, most recently as pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Caraway, Ark. He had served as pastor at several churches in Arkansas and Missouri. He was a graduate of Williams Baptist College.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Todd Vinson of Keiser, Ark., Tracy Vinson of Jonesboro, Ark., and Tony Vinson of Branson, Mo.; three daughters, Maria Pierson of Jonesboro, Martha Stocklin of St. Louis, and Melissa Vinson of Jonesboro; a brother, Billy Vinson of Jonesboro; a sister, Pat Morris of St. Mary; and 11 grandchildren.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Baptist Church in St. Mary.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the church, with Don Estes officiating. Burial will follow at Ste. Genevieve.

A funeral also will be held at 7 p.m. today at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro, with Harold Ray officiating.
