Jimmy Lee LaGrone, 62, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 3, 1951, in Opelika, Ala., to James Gilbert and Rose Lindsey LaGrone.

On April 9, 1973, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged April 9, 1974.

After his time in the service, he worked as an insurance agent and truck driver. In 1975, Jimmy relocated to Cape Girardeau, where he owned and operated a landscaping business for several years. He was a former member of the Cape VFW.

He is survived by children Linda (Leland) Williams of Opelika; James (Sabrina) Simmons of Alexandria, Va., and Corey Simmons and Samantha Simmons of Cape Girardeau; and four grandchildren, Taylor and Ethan Williams and C.J. and Joey Simmons.

Also surviving are two sisters, Yvonne Counts of Camp Hill, Ala., and Carlene Bradley of Okeechobee, Fla.; and his life mate, Nancy Renfrow of Cape Girardeau.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Rudolph and Arthur; and one sister, Mae.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to time of service Tuesday at the McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joel Kidwell officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery with full military honors.
