ORAN, Mo. -- Heaven earned another angel, Jimmy C. Abernathy, on Sunday, July 5, 2015. He lived 76 amazing years. ORAN, Mo. -- Heaven earned another angel, Jimmy C. Abernathy, on Sunday, July 5, 2015. He lived 76 amazing years.

He was born April 10, 1939, at Morley, Missouri, to the late Mack Pearl and Jessie Lee Black Abernathy. He met the love of his life, Maxine Randol, in high school. They were married April 4, 1959, at Morley First Baptist Church.

Jimmy worked 20 years at Oran Hat Factory. He retired from Texas Eastern Pipeline after 25 years. He loved to fish for crappie. He also liked the St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers. His greatest joy of all was his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Oran.

Loving survivors include his wife, Maxine, of Oran; a daughter, Pam (Rick) Eftink of Oran; two grandchildren, Ricky (Jamie) Eftink of Jackson and April (DJ) Walton of Scott City; five great-grandchildren, Bret, Aubree and Braeden Walton of Scott City and Alaina and Devin Eftink of Jackson; two sisters, Betty (Cletus) Davis and Vicki Hodges; mother-in-law, Edith (Ben) Randol-Adams; four sisters-in-law, Rose (Sam) Isaacs, Sally Thurlkill, Connie Randol (Rex Grossman) and Sherri (Scott) Summers; a brother-in-law, Harry Frye; special friends, Bill Hudgens and Jere Tenkhoff; and a special nephew, Scott Randol Isaacs.

Jimmy was preceded in death by a sister, Melba Frye; father-in-law, Silas Randol; and a brother-in-law, Bill Thurlkill.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Donny Ford officiating. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery at Morley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Southeast Hospice.
