SIKESTON -- Jimmie Lee Mitchell Sr., 88, of Sikeston died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born April 10, 1911, in Coahoma County, Miss., son of Eprham and Lula Mitchell. He and Johnnie Mae Marshall were married in 1954. She died in 1971. He and Mary Tate were married in 1995.
Mitchell lived in Missouri more than 35 years. He was employed by city of Sikeston, retiring in the early 1970s. He later worked as an electrician. He was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; six sons, Jerry, Jimmie Jr., Roy and Johnnie Mitchell, Sylvester Murphy, all of Sikeston, Robert Mitchell of Bartow, Fla.; four daughters, Murlee Pulley, Ruth and Shelia Mitchell, all of Sikeston, Idell Bean of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Mary Shelton of Chicago; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Church. The Rev. L.J. Nabors will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
