MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Jimmie Wayne Long, 67, of Marble Hill passed away Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 29, 1949, in Gobler, Missouri, son of Woodrow W. and Maggie C. Russell Long. He and Diana Kirkpatrick were united in marriage Aug. 1, 1975.
Jimmie worked for Tel-Line and Midwest Splicing Inc. as a lead lineman and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Long of Marble Hill; mother, Maggie C. Long of Marble Hill; son, Jimmy Wayn Long of Marble Hill; brothers, Joe and Cecil Long of Marble Hill, Billy Long of Millstadt, Illinois, Danny Long of Columbia, Illinois, Gary Long of Mexico, Missouri, and Bruce Long of Grassy, Missouri; sisters, Judy Stacy of Little Rock, Arkansas, and W. Jean Green of Marble Hill; and grandchildren, Cherokee Long, Kaleigh Long and Keagan Long.
He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Long; sisters, Sandra Brown and Lorna Fay Long; and grandson, Brendan Long.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Otis Long officiating. Burial will be in Hurricane Fork Cemetery near Marble Hill, with full military rites provided by the Missouri Honors Team.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested for the family expenses.
