James "Jim" Thomas, 67, of Jackson passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Oct. 22, 1944, in Chaffee, Mo., to the late Earl James and Mary Catherine Kiefer Thomas. He married Betty Place on Sept. 24, 1984, and she survives.
He was a member of the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War. He retired as a mechanic from Procter & Gamble in Cape Girardeau. He was a life member of Cape Girardeau VFW Post 3838 and Cape Girardeau Elks Lodge 639. Jim was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include his wife, Betty of the family home; two brothers, Steve (Trish) Thomas of Chaffee and Robert Thomas of St. Charles, Mo.; and one sister, Diana (Doyle) Tankersley of Jefferson City, Mo.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. An Elks service will be held at 7 p.m.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating.
Burial will follow at Union Park Cemetery in Chaffee with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Guard.
