JACKSON -- Jill E. Myer of Jackson died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999, at St. Francis Medical Center. She was 59.

She was born July 10, 1939, in Allenville, daughter of J.R. and Isabelle Slinkard Evans. She married Richard "Dick" Myer Sept. 6, 1958. He survives.

She graduated from Jackson High School in 1957 and was president of the Navy Wives Club while her husband was stationed in Memphis, Tenn. She was head of public relations for the organization and served as chairman in 1974.

She was ombudsman for the Base Command in Memphis and senior interviewer for the Navy Relief.

She and her husband returned to Jackson to live permanently in 1984. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

She worked at the jackson Wal-Mart from 1985 to 1995 and previously worked at Creative Mailing House while the family was stationed in Long Island, N.Y. She also had served as a teacher's aide while in Springfield.

She had been in failing health the past three years.

She is also survived by three sons, Travis and Trevor Myer, both of Jackson and Trent Myer of Fort Sill, Okla.; a brother, Jack Evans of Scott City; two sisters, Jean Kurre of Jackson and Susan Estes of Gravel Hill; three grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with parish prayers at 7:30.

Funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating.

Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery.
