SIKESTON -- Graveside service for Jewell I. Hooks of Sikeston will be held at 10 a.m. today at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ponder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Hooks, 80, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
She was born April 6, 1920, in Atkins, Ark., daughter of Horace Oscar and Susan Belle Pollard Nichols. She and Harold Loran Hooks were married Nov. 30, 1939, at Bernie. He died July 16, 1976.
Hooks had lived in East St. Louis, Ill., Las Vegas, Nev., the Sikeston area, and California. She had been a teacher at both the Sikeston and East St. Louis Adult Education Centers. She retired from Missouri Crippled Children's Service in Cape Girardeau, where she worked 18 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sue Thompson of Sikeston; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
