CHAFFEE, Mo. -- Jewell Gordon, 78, of Chaffee left this world to meet her heavenly father, surrounded by the love of her husband and family at her side.
She was born Oct. 21, 1932, in Senath, Mo., to Z.T. and Valley Mae Winberry Kelley.
Jewell was an avid bingo player and loved to travel. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Ladies VFW Auxiliary, Ladies American Legion Auxiliary and Country CB Club.
She was a very good friend to others, loved her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them. She retired from Chaffee General Hospital as a housekeeper, where she made many valued friends.
She married the love of her life, Walter Wayne Gordon, Aug. 18, 1948, in Clay County, Ark.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years; two sons, Danny (Sarah) of Chaffee, Larry Gordon of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Linda (Jerry) Riley and Glenda Tuttleton (Mike) of Chaffee; 14 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Carmell Kelley and Marion Smith.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Bob Lewis officiating.
Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
