SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Jewell Ellis, 89, of Sedgewickville passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at Cla Ru Deville Nursing Home in Fredericktown, Mo.

She was born Feb. 26, 1914, in Sedgewickville, daughter of Perl C. and Emma Penny Bollinger. She married Frank Conrad Ellis Oct. 2, 1937. He preceded her in death July 15, 2002.

Mrs. Ellis was a homemaker, a member of Sedgewickville Methodist Church since she was 13 years old, where she had served in offices on various church organizations, and had taught Sunday School.

She had served on the Governor's Council on Aging in Jefferson City, a member of the Friendly Homemakers Extension Club, a charter member of the United Methodist Church Women's Club, a member of the Association for Retarded Children, helped organize the Happy Old Peoples Club, and vice president of Bollinger County Council on Aging.

Survivors include a son, Jerry (Leona) Ellis of Sedgewickville; four grandchildren, Pam Walther of Jackson, Greg, Bryan and Patrick Ellis, all of Sedgewickville; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a grandson, Tony Ellis; two brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, Mo., and Friday after 10 a.m. at Sedgewickville United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Revs. James Brice and Howard Miller officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery near Sedgewickville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sedgewickville United Methodist Church or to Garden of Memories Cemetery Fund.
