Jewell Cox, 85, of Cape Girardeau, passed away on September 12, 2024. A UPS retiree, he cherished family, fishing, and westerns. Visitation and funeral services will be held on September 19 at Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Jewell Wendell Cox, 85, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born March 6, 1939, in Chillicothe to Clarence and Frances Allen Cox Jewell and Marilyn Cox were married Feb. 21, 1959, in Mooresville.

He worked at United Parcel Service for more than 30 years. His favorite pastimes included working in his yard, fishing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, reading and watching Westerns. He also enjoyed traveling and camping with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Cox; two daughters, Kathy Pinkston and Julie (Jon) Freeman; two sons, Dan (Tracy) Cox and Brian Cox; brother, Gary (Carol) Cox; sister, Sue (Larry) Warren; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jewell was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leon (Doris) Cox; and two nephews.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Daniel Seabaugh officiating.

Memorial contributions may be given to Special Olympics of Southeast Missouri, 1625 N. Kingshighway, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
