HOWARDVILLE -- Jewell Caruthers, 76, of Howardville died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1998, at Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
He was born Feb. 7, 1921, at Oxford, Miss., son of Will and Stella Williams Caruthers.
He had lived in Missouri for more than 25 years and was a former employee of the city of Howardville.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Mae Caruthers of Dade City, Fla.; a son, Jewell Ray Wigfall of Dade City; two daughters, Estella Jones of Chicago and Londa LaVette Wigfall of Dade City; two sisters, Earlene Jones of St. Louis and Willie Bea LaMarr of Chicago; two grandchildren; and nine stepchildren.
Visitation is from 11 to noon today at the First Baptist Church in Howardville. Funeral service is at noon at the church, with the Rev. Sylvester Morgan officiating. Burial will follow at the Simmons Park Cemetery at Catron. Williams-Farr and Parnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
