EAST PRAIRIE -- Jessie "Iris" White, 65, of East Prairie, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 1991 at her residence.
She was born Jan. 29, 1926 at Risco, daughter of Aubrey and Shirley Agee Hunt.
She taught school in the R-2 School district. For 10 years she taught second grade; for 10 years she taught in the junior high and from 1966 to 1987, she was the school librarian.
She received her bachelors degree from Southeast Missouri State University and her masters in education from the University of Missouri. She was past president and secretary-treasurer for the R2 Community Teachers Association. She attended Nelson Methodist Church in East Prairie.
She is survived by two daughters, Penny Phillips and Jackie Leonard, both of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Aubrey W. Hunt, East Port, Miss.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One daughter and one brother preceded her in death.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.
Funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel with the Rev. Clinton Wofford, past of the Nelson Methodist Church of East Prairie, officiating.
Burial will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.
