Jessie Dalton

Jessie Dalton, 99, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Dalton was born Sept. 11, 1902 in Friedheim, Mo., daughter of Dr. Alexander and Julia Klauss Dalton.

She played varsity basketball at Cape Central and received a bachelor of science in education from Southeast Missouri State University. She taught in the Hazelwood School District for several years before a 40-year teaching career in the Cape Girardeau School District, where she coached girls basketball.

A member of Centenary United Methodist Church, Dalton was a member of United Methodist Women and was active in the church and Sunday school class.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters.

Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home, with Karen Mustoe officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park mausoleum.
