FISK, Mo. -- Jesse F. Kirk, 89, of Fisk died Monday, March 14, 2005, at Mark Twain Caring Center in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was born April 22, 1915, in Green County, Ind., son of L.C. "Cecil" and Anna Kirk. He and Lillian Moore were married Aug. 24, 1935, at Delta.

Mr. Kirk had worked on road construction and was retired from Missouri Petroleum Products. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a member of Fisk Presbyterian Church and had served as an elder. He served on the Fisk-Rombauer School Board and served as mayor of Fisk. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge in Poplar Bluff.

Survivors include two sons, Jesse B. and wife Carol Kirk of Sikeston, Mo., Wilbur and wife Brenda Kirk of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Colleen Riepe of Fisk, Darlene and husband Melvin Lewis of Fisk, Loretta and husband Bruce Yarbro of Poplar Bluff; two sisters, Lindabel Schall of Broseley, Mo., Lula Mae Gallamore and husband Bob of Fairdealing, Mo.

Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, Keith Kirk of Sikeston, Pamela and husband Rodney Pensel of Jackson, Evelyn and husband Robert Morgan of Fisk, Janet Reed of Fisk, Lee and wife Denise Lewis of Fisk, Cindy and husband Eric Patterson of Broseley, Melanie and husband Steve Rommel of Poplar Bluff, Brian and wife Holly Yarbro of Poplar Bluff, Matthew Kirk of Cape Girardeau, Jill and husband Kyle Buerck of Fort Pierce, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren, Shellie and husband Wally Dodge of Fisk, Brandon and wife Cassie Austin of Broseley, Katelynn and Lydia Pensel of Jackson, Kylee and Carter Lewis of Fisk, Morgan Yarbro of Poplar Bluff, Alexander Buerck of Fort Pierce; five great-great-grandchildren, J.J. Elsworth and Joey Chaffin of Fisk, Deion Austin of Broseley, Amber Dodge of Poplar Bluff and Brandon Dodge of Poplar Bluff.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Dessie Thomas.

Friends may call at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk after 6 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Wendy Downing and Gene Riddle officiating. Burial will be in Brown Chapel Cemetery.
