VILLA RIDGE, Ill. -- Jerry Martin "Jay" Webb, 76, of Villa Ridge died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Casey Care Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, Ill.
He was born Oct. 21, 1924, in Villa Ridge, son of Bauda W. and Bera Rose Webb.
Webb served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired as a technical sergeant from the U.S. Air Force in October 1965.
He was a member of American Legion Post 179 of Villa Ridge and a former member of VFW Post 8891 in Mounds, Ill.
Survivors include a niece, Sharon McCormick of Wayne City, Ill.; three nephews, Jerry and Ronald Schierbaum of Bluford, Ill., and Glenn Schierbaum of Opdyke, Ill.
Friends may call at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon from 5-7 p.m. today, and at Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at National Cemetery in Mound City, Ill., with Bennie Schierbaum officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 8891 and VFW Post 8891.
