Jerry Sneed

Jerry L. Sneed, 68, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 6, 1936, in Painton, Mo., son of Clyde W. and Avis Crain Sneed. He and Kay Kerstner were married Sept. 8, 1957, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Jerry was a 1954 graduate of Jackson High School and served in the 1140th National Guard unit in Jackson. He then worked briefly as a loan officer for Lemay Bank in St. Louis ,and from 1958 to 1988 he was in the banking industry as a loan officer in the Jackson and Cape Girardeau area banks.

Jerry and Kay also owned and operated S&S Investments, a company with rental properties in Jackson and Cape Girardeau. In 1988, he began managing the properties on a full-time basis.

Jerry had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church since 1957. He formerly served as an usher and was active in the Mr. and Mrs. Club.

Former affiliations include the Citizens Mutual Insurance Board, Cape Girardeau County Extension Council and Jackson Optimist Club.

Loving survivors include his wife, Kay, of 47 years; two daughters, Pam Lynch and husband Ed of Knoxville, Tenn., Kris Sneed of Jackson; two granddaughters, Laura and Lindsey Lynch of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Clyde "Buddy" Sneed of Marble Hill, Mo., Larry Sneed of Dexter, Mo.; and two sisters, Marilyn Richmond of Bell City, Mo., Rosemary Story of Greensboro, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene Ray and David Sneed.

Friends may call Monday, March 7, after 9 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at funeral home, with Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating.

Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
