CARTERVILLE, Ill. -- Jerry Siebert, 62, of Carterville passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous 18-month battle with cancer.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, nephew and uncle whom will be greatly missed.
Jerry was born July 8, 1953, in St. Louis to Harold and Jacqueline Siebert. Jerry married the love of his life, Sandra Shadley, on March 29, 1986. They enjoyed 30 wonderful years together. She survives him.
His career consisted of 35 years in management, most recently at Hardee's and Panera Bread in Southern Illinois.
Jerry was a kind and gentle soul who never met a stranger. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known throughout his life for bestowing affectionate nicknames on family, friends and coworkers. He was a sports enthusiast, a lifelong fan of the Cardinals, Blues and NASCAR. He excelled in basketball and soccer in high school and college. He enjoyed bowling, golf and reading, but mostly spending time with his family. He was a member of S.I. Worship Center.
He also is survived by his sons, Jason Siebert of Newport News, Virginia, and Brian Siebert of Mount Vernon, Illinois; a daughter, Lisa Siebert of Morgan City, Louisiana; grandchildren, Michaela Siebert of Angier, North Carolina, Bri Siebert and Gage Siebert, both at home; his mother, Jacqueline Siebert of Cape Girardeau; brothers, Butch Siebert, Rich (Denise) Siebert, Tom (DeeDee) Siebert, Andy (Mary) Siebert, Bob (Lori) Siebert, David (Theresa) Siebert and Scott (Diane) Siebert; sisters, Barb (Keith) Schwartz, Lorrie (Matt) Schwartz, Judy (John) Hoffmeister and Amy (Bryan) Young; a brother-in-law, Eric (Brenda) Shadley; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Bruce) Deopere and Vickie (Jim) Shadley-Lovell; many nieces and nephews; beloved pets, Maggie and Roxie; and a host of friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Harold W. Siebert; his mother- and father-in-law, Glen and Barbara Shadley; and a daughter-in-law, Kristy Dawn Siebert.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Riggin-Pillatsch Burke Funeral Home in Carterville.
The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with pastor Kerry Cox officiating. Burial will be in Willowrest Cemetery in Carterville.
