Jerry Edward Ruesler, 55, of Oak Ridge died Saturday, April 23, 2005, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born March 19, 1950, in Cape Girardeau, son of Edward Howard and Gertie Marie Surface Ruesler. He and Carol Ann Maintz were married Sept. 16, 1972, at Old Salem United Methodist Church.

Ruesler was a foreman for the north end of the county with the Cape County Highway Department for 32 years, before his retirement in 2004. He was also a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church. Ruesler graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1968.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jason Lee Ruesler and wife Christina of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a daughter, Carrie Ann Johnston and husband Dereck of Oak Ridge; a sister, Mildred Ruesler of Jackson; and two grandchildren, Ty Gavin Johnston and Holden Ryan Johnston.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Calvin Brown and John Rice officiating. Burial will be in Old Salem United Methodist Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Old Salem United Methodist Cemetery Fund.
