Jerry Lee Rhodes, 65, of Scott City died Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, in a road construction accident near Oran, Mo.
He was born July 7, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, to Alonzo Leon Rhodes Sr. and Bessie Marie Wallace Rhodes. He and Irma Ruth Johnson were married June 6, 1970, at Perryville, Mo.
Jerry was a paving contractor with Irma Rhodes Trucking. He was formerly a longtime employee with Hines Brothers Trucking and Southeast Missouri Stone.
Survivors include his wife, Irma Rhodes of Scott City; two daughters, Lori (Bill) Shepherd of Cooke-ville, Tenn., Dena (Rob) Deimund of Scott City; two brothers, David (Linda) Rhodes of Cape Girardeau, Michael (Kris) Rhodes of St. Louis; three sisters, Mary Gohn of Cape Girardeau, Patricia (William) Goodman of Waynesville, Mo., Nancy Markhart of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Robbie and Gavin "Scotty" Deimund, and Danielle Shepherd.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alonzo Leon "Lonnie" Rhodes Jr.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Phil Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
