JERRY PRESLEY

STEELE, Mo. -- Jerry A. Presley, 60, of Steele and formerly of Sikeston, Mo., died Friday, Feb. 16, 2001, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville, Ark.

He was born Jan. 17, 1941, at Sikeston, son of Emily Lou Waltrip Presley and Gerald Robert Presley. He graduated from Sikeston High School in 1959. He attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro for 3 1/2 years on a baseball scholarship.

For 40 years he was the owner of the Surplus Grocery Store in Blytheville.

He and Saundra L. Duke were married March 17, 1963. She died Aug. 20, 1989.

Survivors include his mother, of Sikeston; a friend, Sue Rhoades of the home in Steele; a son, Jerry Dale Presley of Blytheville; two daughters, Tracy Sides and Nichole Rodgers, both of Sikeston; a brother, Lanny Presley of Sikeston; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rodney Dunlap and John Mundy officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
