Jerome Francis "Jerry" Hoffman Jr., 71, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 4, 1943, in Mayfield, Kentucky, to Jerome Francis and Orene Ballard Hoffman Sr. He and Jackie Atwood were married May 16, 1964, in Junction City, Kansas.

Jerry was a 1961 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He was a supervisor at Atlas Plastics and later worked at M&W and Nordenia. He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, where he served as an usher 40 years, and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 1111. His hobbies included fishing and hunting and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Hoffman of Cape Girardeau; mother, Orene Hoffman of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Mark (Vickie) Hoffman of Cape Girardeau, Darrin (Julie) Hoffman of Grassy, Missouri, Patrick (Cherry) Hoffman of Jackson and Michael (Megen) Hoffman of St. Charles, Missouri; and two daughters, Suzy (Dana Carlton) Horne of Marble Hill, Missouri, and Christy (Russell) Yarbro of Cape Girardeau.

Also four brothers, Kenneth (Karen) Hoffman of Cape Girardeau, Joe (Dollie) Hoffman of Jackson, Bob Hoffman and Jimmy (Kim) Hoffman of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Janie (Hugo) Lang of Paducah, Kentucky, Margie (Don) Reece of Olathe, Kansas, Becky (Rick) Essner and Cathy (Rick) Fehr of Cape Girardeau; a sister-in-law, Deborah Hoffman of Cape Girardeau; 20 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Martin Hoffman Sr.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Cathedral, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to Paralyzed Veterans of America.
