PULASKI, Ill. -- Jennie Susan "Grammy" Thurston, 102, of Pulaski died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo. She was born Nov. 2, 1897, near Pulaski, daughter of Warren Ernest and Amelia Elizabeth Atherton Edwards. She and Harry F. Thurston were married Nov. 11, 1915, in Mound City. PULASKI, Ill. -- Jennie Susan "Grammy" Thurston, 102, of Pulaski died Sunday, March 26, 2000, at Daystar Care Center in Cairo.

She was born Nov. 2, 1897, near Pulaski, daughter of Warren Ernest and Amelia Elizabeth Atherton Edwards. She and Harry F. Thurston were married Nov. 11, 1915, in Mound City. He died in February 1970.

Thurston was a lifelong resident of Pulaski. She was the oldest living member of Pulaski Christian Church and had been active until recently. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid, Pulaski-Alexander County Farm Bureau, Pulaski Homemakers Extension Club, and Center Methodist Church Youth.

Survivors include three grandsons, Robert, Stanley and Danny Thurston, all of Pulaski; two granddaughters, Gloria Thurston and Beverly Palmisano of Pulaski; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, a granddaughter, four brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call at Pulaski Christian Church from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with William W. Winters and Wiley D. Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Jones Funeral Home at Villa Ridge is in charge of arrangements.
