Jennie Lou Ringland, 84, died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2005.
She was born Oct. 21, 1920, in Dallas, Texas, daughter of Dr. Roy Nathaniel and Marion Francis Gardner Blackwell. She was baptized and confirmed at the Episcopal Church of Incarnation in Dallas.
Jennie attended and worked at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis. She and Dr. George William Ringland were married March 26, 1944, in Kirksville, Mo. She assisted him early in his practice in Steele, Mo., delivering babies and helped him establish his practice.
Jennie resided with her family in Cape Girardeau from 1947 to 1993, at which time she moved into the home of Nancy and Chuck Reilly, who cared for her every need.
She is the beloved mother of Nancy Reilly, Betsy Coffman, Georganne "Gigi" Davidson and Bob Ringland.
She is the devoted grandmother of Bryan (Scheihing) Shyne, Gannon Coffman, Kimberly Young, Katie Reilly and Matthew Davidson, and adoring great-grandmother of Aidan and Rian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother, Roy Nathaniel Blackwell.
Her greatest treasure was her family and friends. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Women's Auxiliary Guild at Christ Episcopal Church. She was a homemaker, church worker and volunteer who loved golfing, bowling, volleyball, horseback riding and gardening.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church.
