Jeireld Raymond Snell, 74, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005, at his home.

He was born Feb. 27, 1930, in McClure, Ill., son of Peter and Gladys Benefield Snell. He and Helen Marie Nabe were married Sept. 2, 1950, in Piggott, Ark. She died Nov. 16, 1990.

Snell formerly worked for Cape-Kil Pest Control, Monroe Glass, Marquette Cement, and was owner and operator of River Hills Pest Control. He was a member of Scriptural Evangelical Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 0900, VFW Post 3838, and charter member of Egypt Mills Antique Tractor Club.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include a daughter, Joann Hosey of Jackson; three sons, Rodger, Gary and David Snell of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Rozena Grube of Ojai, Calif.; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Scriptural Evangelical Church, with the Rev. Henry Gieschen officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery at Egypt Mills with VFW graveside service.
