NEW HAMBURG, Mo. -- Jeffrey Layton Steger, 71, of New Hamburg died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Landmark Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 7, 1942, in San Diego to Leo A. "Bud" and Vera Louise Rodgers Steger. He and Connie Sue Enderle were married Feb. 8, 1964.
Jeffrey was a truck driver for Brenda Kay Sand, and a member of Knights of Columbus Council 4311 in Oran, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Connie; a son, Brent Steger of Pocahontas (fiancee Shelly Andrews); a daughter, Marsha (Larry Gene) Strobel of Oran; two brothers, Shelby "Skip" (Charlene) Steger of New Hamburg and Shannon (Edie) Steger of Chaffee, Missouri; a sister, Sharon (Wilford) Raines of Clinton, Missouri; four grandchildren, Trey (Taylor) Strobel, LaGena Strobel, Brice Steger and Reena Steger.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time today at Amick-Burnett Chapel in Benton, Missouri. A Knights of Columbus service will be at 10:30 a.m.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at the chapel, with the Rev. Michael Casteel officiating. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in New Hamburg.
