Jeanie Stroup-Smith, daughter of the late Earl and Mary Ann Malone Alvey, was born April 29, 1929, in Chaffee, Missouri, and departed this life Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, in Jackson at the age of 91 years.
She and Howard Stroup were married Dec. 24, 1946, and after he passed in 1971, she married Tom Arnold, who also preceded her in death. She later married John Smith.
Jeanie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Chaffee and the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband, John Smith of Chaffee; two sons, Jerry (Carol) Stroup and Randy (Debbie) Stroup, both of Chaffee; daughter Beverly Griggs of Sikeston, Missouri; brother, Elton Alvey of O'Fallon, Illinois; three grandchildren, Julie Esterline of Sikeston, Matthew Stroup of Chaffee and Glendon Stroup of Scott City; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Marcella Sparkman; brother, Ronald Alvey; and two grandsons, Jody M. Griggs and Alan Stroup.
There will be a memorial service held at a later date.
