EAST PRAIRIE -- Jean Smith, 74, of Belleville, Ill., died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at her home, following an extended illness.
She was born Feb. 15, 1923, in East Prairie, daughter of Eura and Carra Murphy Presson. She and Eugene Smith were married May 15, 1942.
Smith was a bookkeeper at McKesson Drugs in Belleville 15 years. She was a member of Winstanley Baptist Church in Belleville.

Survivors include her husband.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 9 a.m. Saturday.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Odd Fellows Cemetery near Charleston. Ralph Yarbro will officiate.
