Jean Bernice Schaefer, 77, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Fountainbleau Lodge.
She was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Chicago, daughter of Matthew George and Bernice Fiala Rusanowski Frederick. She and Walter B. Schaefer were married Feb. 16, 1946, in Volo, Ill. He died Sept. 17, 1976.
Schaefer was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral.
Survivors include six sons, William Schaefer of Marion, Ky., Donald and Kenneth Schaefer of Cape Girardeau, Joseph Schaefer of St. Peters, Mo., James Schaefer of Barnhart, Mo., Edward Schaefer of Perryville, Mo.; two daughters, Karen Wilkinson of Jackson, Theresa Ho of Plainfield, Ill.; a sister, Lorraine Lucas of Norfolk, Va.; 34 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three daughters, a brother and two grandchildren.
Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, with Monsignor Edward Eftink and the Rev. Thomas Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
