WOOD RIVER, Ill. -- Jean "Moma Jean" McLain, of Wood River passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at St. Louis University Hospital.

She was born April 9, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, to Ruddle and Allene Graves Gleason. She and James D. McLain were married April 25, 1959, in Cape Girardeau.

McLain was employed by Environmental Services Department at Wood River Township Hospital 24 years, retiring in 1998.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Andrew Schnable of Cary, N.C.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jerry and Beverly McLain of Cincinnati, Gary and Gina McLain of Naperville, Ill., James Allen McLain of Davis, Ill.; seven grandchildren, Kate and Milli Schnable, Ashley, Jacob, Zack, Daniel and Dana McLain; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and Kenneth Stevenson of Riverside, Calif., Judith and Tom Holshouser of Cape Girardeau; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Joan Gleason of San Dimas, Calif., and Kenneth and Sue Gleason of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jeanette Gleason.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Paynic Home for Funerals in Rosewood Heights, Ill.

A private family service will be held Friday, with Martin Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto, Ill.

Memorials may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wood River.
