Mrs. Jean Kinchen, age 78, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Kennett, Mo., and Hornersville, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in Cape Girardeau. Jean Branum Kinchen, daughter of the late Kermit E. Branum and Louise Perkins Branum, was born April 10, 1931, in Hornersville, Mo., and departed this life on Oct. 7, 2009, at the age of 78 years...

Mrs. Jean Kinchen, age 78, of Cape Girardeau and formerly of Kennett, Mo., and Hornersville, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in Cape Girardeau.

Jean Branum Kinchen, daughter of the late Kermit E. Branum and Louise Perkins Branum, was born April 10, 1931, in Hornersville, Mo., and departed this life on Oct. 7, 2009, at the age of 78 years.

Jean married Lonnie L. Kinchen on June 9, 1951, in Hornersville. Lonnie preceded her in death.

Jean was a University of Missouri alumna and belonged to the Eastern Star.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Wayne Kinchen of Hornersville and Sydney Scott Kinchen of Dexter, Mo.; a daughter, Sarah Burdin and her husband David of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Laura Gierten, Taylor Burdin, Claire Kinchen, Caroline Burdin, Catherine Kinchen, Mason Burdin and Hattie Lou Burdin; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Reid and Emma Pyatt; a brother, Weldon "Buddy" Branum and his wife, Frances, of Fredricktown, Mo.; other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at McDaniel Funeral Home in Kennett, with services being at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in Lulu Cemetery in Senath, Mo. The Rev. Sam O. Pulliam will officiate.

Pallbearers are Bart Ozbun, Matt Collier, Charlie Brown, Rick Twist, Bill Creed and Kevin Hall.

Honorary pallbearers are Jim Collier, W.H. Houston, Donald Lee Hart and A.J. Nelson.

Memorials may be made to Dunklin County Library or the Delta Children's Home in Kennett.
