Jean Ann Goodson, 86, of Jackson peacefully passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Chaffee Nursing Home in Chaffee, Missouri. She was born March 8, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Vernon F. and Lillian Marie Hager Nenninger. Jean Ann Goodson, 86, of Jackson peacefully passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021, at the Chaffee Nursing Home in Chaffee, Missouri.

She was born March 8, 1935, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Vernon F. and Lillian Marie Hager Nenninger. She and Willard "David" Goodson were married January 12, 1957, at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. He passed away March 6, 2016.

Jean was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Cape Girardeau and earned her registered nurse certificate through DePaul Nursing School in St. Louis. She worked at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for over 25 years. Jean was a former member of St. Mary Cathedral and a long-time member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening.

Loving survivors include five children, Mark (Karen) Goodson, Mike Goodson, Scott (Donna) Goodson and Stephanie (Curtis) Weidenbenner, all of Jackson, and Craig (Jill) Goodson of Scott City; nine grandchildren, Rachael (Jonathan) Bremer, David (Jackie) Weidenbenner, Claire (Ben) Dierkes, Trevor Goodson, Lydia Goodson, Aaron (Kaitie) Goodson, Landon (Aubri) Goodson, Annaka Goodson and Kinsey Goodson; two stepgrandchildren, Ryan Bollinger and Amy Kesterson; seven great-grandchildren; a great-stepgrandchild; two brothers, Wayne (Bonnie) Nenninger of Texas and Dan (Mary Ann) Nenninger of Gordonville; a sister, Deborah "Deb" (Steve) Beussink of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Linda Goodson of Jackson.

In addition to her parents and her husband of 58 years, David, Jean was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Carolyn Nenninger, and a brother-in-law, Dean Goodson.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m., followed by the rosary.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with the Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
