Jean Gilliland

Jean Evelyn Gilliland, 73, of Jackson passed away Friday, March 29, 2019, at her home.

She was born April 16, 1945, in Cape Girardeau to Dallas and Mable Verble Baugher.

Jean worked at the Cape Girardeau County Clerk's Office for 30 years. She was baptized at West Side Church of God in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include her loving husband and best friend of 55 years, Newton Harrison Gilliland of Jackson; sons, Newton Matthew and Christopher John Gilliland; daughter, Kathryn Jean Wangler; sisters, LaVerne Ann Smith and Phyllis Morlene Hizer; brothers, Roger Dale and Garreth Dean Baugher; grandchildren, Christina Coann, Amelia Grace, Dallas Harrison and Montelius Danny Gilliland; great-grandson, Noah Braxton Gilliland; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and brothers- and sisters-in-law.

She will be dearly missed by her loving family and all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert Duane Baugher.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
