Jean Noble "J.N." Cooper, 85, of Des Arc, Ark., formerly of Almyra, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, at Des Arc Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 5, 1923, in Melbourne, Ark., to C.R. and Ruby Lee Tidwell Cooper Sr.
Cooper was manager of Almyra Farmers Co-op before becoming postmaster of Almyra post office. He was a member of Almyra First Baptist Church before moving to Des Arc and becoming a member of First Baptist Church there.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Sarah Jane "Janie" Lott Cooper; a son, Jim Cooper of Jackson; a daughter, Martha Ann Childers of Des Arc; a brother, C. Don Cooper of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and seven great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart, Ark.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Almyra First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Almyra Cemetery.
