SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Jean Conrad, 75, of Sedgewickville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born Dec. 27, 1927, at Sedgewickville, daughter of Pearl C. and Emma Penny Bollinger. She and David Conrad were married June 1, 1946, in Jackson. He passed away July 23, 1999...

SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Jean Conrad, 75, of Sedgewickville passed away Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Dec. 27, 1927, at Sedgewickville, daughter of Pearl C. and Emma Penny Bollinger. She and David Conrad were married June 1, 1946, in Jackson. He passed away July 23, 1999.

Jean had worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson prior to her marriage. She began working at the former Jackson Hosiery Mill in 1965, and in 1972 began working at the former Lambert's Fabrics Unlimited. For 30 years she owned and operated Draperies by Jean, featuring custom draperies and window treatments.

She was a member of Sedgewickville United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women. She was also a member of Willing Helpers FCE Club and held many offices within the organization. Other memberships include John Guild Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Red Hat Rebels, Good Sam's Camping Club, former leader with Cheerful Workers 4-H Club in Sedgewickville, and a charter member of Meadow Heights Band Boosters Club.

Loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Marty and Rhonda Conrad of Sedgewickville, Terry and Mary Lou Conrad of Patton, Mo.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna and David Allen of Jackson, Debby Poindexter of Marble Hill, Mo.; a brother, Roy Bollinger of Jackson; two sisters, Zelma Statler of Perryville, Mo., and Jewell Ellis of Sedgewickville.

Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Brent and Deanna Schreiner and Matthew Conrad, Justin Conrad, Christopher Conrad and wife Jessica, Ronnie Allen and wife DeAnn, Terry Allen and wife Lourisa; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Lorryn Allen.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Ronald Dean Conrad; and a brother, Richard Bollinger.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson after 4 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. James Brice will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
